Services at St Mary Magdalene

Sundays 10am
On Sundays we do many of the things that Christians have been doing for millennia. We celebrate the Eucharist at 10am. ‘Eucharist’ is the Greek word for thanksgiving. We sing with joy, we pray knowing that God loves us and hears our prayers. We read the Bible, hearing the story of God and God’s people, knowing that we too are part of that story. We take, bless, break and share the bread and wine of Holy Communion, knowing that as we do so, Christ is present with us.
The service lasts about an hour. There’s no formal dress code – come as you are (your jeans are fine!). You can expect hymns with organ, more contemporary songs from different genres, and music from right across the centuries. Children are always welcome.
After the service we love to spend time getting to know one another over tea, coffee and biscuits.
Wednesdays 10.30am
On Wednesdays we celebrate the Eucharist at 10.30am. This is a more intimate, quieter service, and we are especially glad to welcome friends from Handside Hall. The service is about 45minutes long, and is followed by tea, coffee, and often homemade cake. From time to time we have lunch together in church after the service.
